Luisa Mè is a duo of London-based young Italian artists who confront themselves with the pictorial medium with a personal and innovative approach. The freshness and originality of their compositions reveal, at a closer look, a deep knowledge and respect of the Italian aesthetic tradition. An overwhelming energy transforms apparently peaceful situations into virtual struggles that force the figures into unnatural and painful contortions also visible in the curvaceous sculptures that seem to be animated by a desire for rebellion. The creation process is equally powerful and dynamic: the painting gets dirty as they move around the studio and change its orientation, and the way in which they add and remove color enriches the surface of the work with scars, revealing the struggle behind its creation. Luisa Mè attended an artist residency at Bocs, Cosenza, Italy (2018).
