CV

Caroline Zurmely is an artist who prioritizes the material, texture, and process in her work, over any specific theme or subject matter. Among her recent series are nail polish enamel relief paintings and pieces created by manipulating the fibers of vintage towels. Her nail polish enamel pieces explore tabloid photography and scenes of public mourning through tight close-ups, creating contrasting feelings of intimacy and remoteness for the viewer. By utilizing unconventional materials and limiting the scope of her pieces, Zurmely aims to alter the viewer's perception of distance. Currently based in Dallas, Texas, Zurmely has exhibited her work in numerous group shows, including "Apotrope" at Cob Gallery in London, UK (2022), "Young Sculptors Exhibition" at the National Sculpture Society in NYC, NY (2022), "By Yourself with Everyone" at Good Mother Gallery in Part 39, US (2021), and the "Painting Senior Show" at Woods Gerry Gallery in Providence, RI (2017).
